Year Zero review
Well it’s out. When I heard Survivalism I hated it but now that I’ve listened to it a few times I can honestly say that I still hate it. In fact, I think this is one of the worst songs on the album. The album on the whole however isn’t that bad. Don’t get me wrong, Trent has definitely lost his edge - in fact I never thought I’d hear him sing “come on, sing along, everybody now!!!” - but if you look past some of the lyrics and focus on the music I think you’ll find a really well produced album with some cool hooks and sounds. For me the album falls short in the vocals department but then again vocals have never been that important to me. Though it’s a far cry from The Downward Spiral it’s an improvement on With Teeth. Definitely worth a listen.
